2026 Spring Break Career Treks - Career Advancement at UChicago

Deadline to Apply: Tuesday, January 20 at 9am CT

Who Can Apply: Currently enrolled undergraduate students

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

  • Treks will take place during the week of March 16. The exact dates will depend on the destination, but will include 1.5-3 days of programming.
  • During a trek, you'll visit a variety of employers in the specified industry and have the opportunity to:
    • Learn more about each company and how they operate in the market
    • Meet and network with professionals and alumni working in this field
    • Hear from recruiting teams about relevant internship/job opportunities
  • The specific employer visit itinerary will be shared out a few weeks before the trek during orientation. 

PROGRAM COSTS

  • Each trek will have a program fee that depends on the destination and length of the program ($150-$450). This fee covers hotel accommodations and ground transportation during the trek.
  • Additional costs covered by students include: airfare to and from the trek destination, transportation to/from the airport and the hotel, and lunches/dinners.
  • Career Advancement will book your hotel and organize ground transportation for all site visits and any other group events.
  • Financial assistance is available for eligible students, including Odyssey Scholars and those receiving University aid. You’ll indicate your interest in applying for assistance in the application form.

Amsterdam, Netherlands - AI & Innovation (Program Fee: $450)

Dubai, UAE - Business (Program Fee: $450)

  • Program: 3/16–3/18 | Check-In: 3/15 | Check-Out: 3/19

Jakarta, Indonesia - Global Health (Program Fee: $450)

  • Program: 3/16–3/18 | Check-In: 3/15 | Check-Out: 3/19
  • This trek is sponsored in conjunction with the Kiphart Center; priority will be given to members of the Global Health Frontiers, Global Health Scholars and Kiphart Collegiate Fellows, however, all students are welcome to apply.

Jakarta, Indonesia - Business (Program Fee: $300)

  • Program: 3/19–3/20 | Check-In: 3/18 | Check-Out: 3/21

London, UK - Trott Business Program (Program Fee: $450)

  • Program: 3/16–3/18 | Check-In: 3/15 | Check-Out: 3/19
  • This trek is sponsored by the Trott Business Program; priority will be given to members of the Financial Markets Program or Trott Business Program, however, all students are welcome to apply.

  • This trek is sponsored by the Trott Emerging Business Leaders Program; priority will be given to members of TEBL, however, all students are welcome to apply.

Toronto, Canada - Multi-Industry (Program Fee: $300)

  • Program: 3/16–3/17 | Check-In: 3/15 | Check-Out: 3/18

Passport Requirements for International Treks:

  • A valid passport is required with at least six months’ validity beyond March 15, 2026, and at least one blank page.
  • If you do not have a passport or have an expired/expiring passport, we strongly recommend starting to gather your documentation to submit upon acceptance.
    • You must show proof of a valid passport or an active renewal/application when confirming your spot on the trek.

DOMESTIC OPTIONS

1.5 Day Treks 

  • If interested in this option, you will apply for the general location and industry. You must be able to attend either group option if you apply for these treks.
  • Group 1: Program: 3/16-3/17 until 12pm back at the hotel; Check-In: 3/15; Check-Out: 3/17
    • Book flights that depart starting at 3pm on 3/17 so you have enough time to get to the airport after the program ends
  • Group 2 Details: Program: 3/18-3/19 until 12pm back at the hotel; Check-In: 3/17; Check-Out: 3/19
    • Book flights that depart starting at 3pm on 3/19 so you have enough time to get to the airport after the program ends

1.5 Day Domestic Trips (Program Fee: $150)

  • Boston - Biological Sciences
  • Washington DC - Public Policy & National Security  
  • Philadelphia - Education 
  • Pittsburgh - AI, Analytics, & Tech
  • New York City - Climate & Energy
  • New York City - Consulting
  • New York City - Financial Markets
    • Priority will be given to members of the Financial Markets Program, however, all students are welcome to apply.
  • Houston - Business 
  • Houston - Healthcare 
  • Los Angeles - Cinematic Arts, Media, & Entertainment
  • San Francisco - Tech & AI 

2 or 2.5 Day Domestic Trips (Program Fee: $300)

  • Milwaukee - Business  
    • Program: 3/16-3/18 | Check In: 3/15 | Check Out: 3/19
  • New York City - Private Equity 
    • Program: 3/16-3/18 until 12pm back at the hotel | Check-In : 3/15 | Check-Out: 3/18 
      • Book flights that depart starting at 3pm on 3/18 so you have enough time to get to the airport after the program ends
    • Priority will be given to members of the Private Markets Program, however, all students are welcome to apply.
  • New York City - Theater & Performance Studies
    • Program: 3/20-3/21 | Check-In: 3/19 | Check-Out: 3/22
    • This trek is sponsored by Department of Theater & Performance Students, Logan Center for the Arts, Advancement, & Career Advancement; priority will be given to Theater & Performance majors/minors, however, all students are welcome to apply.
  • New York City - Visual Arts
    • Program: 3/19-3/20 | Check-In: 3/18 | Check Out: 3/21
    • This trek is sponsored by the Department of Visual Arts, Logan Center for the Arts, Advancement, & Career Advancement; priority will be given to Visual Arts majors/minors however, all students are welcome to apply.
  • San Francisco - Digital Assets
    • Program: 3/16-3/18 until 12pm back at the hotel | Check-In: 3/15 | Check-Out: 3/18
      • Book flights that depart starting at 3pm on 3/18 so you have enough time to get to the airport after the program ends
    • Priority will be given to members of the Digital Assets Program, however, all students are welcome to apply.
  • San Francisco - AI Finance
    • Program: 3/16-3/18 until 12pm back at the hotel | Check-In: 3/15 | Check-Out: 3/18
      • Book flights that depart starting at 3pm on 3/18 so you have enough time to get to the airport after the program ends
    • Priority will be given to members of the AI in Finance Programs, however, all students are welcome to apply.

Please submit your application via the external link in this posting by Tuesday, January 20 at 9am CT. Late applications will not be considered.

You will have the option to apply for 2026 Spring Break treks and/or job shadowing in this form. Please review these instructions carefully when applying for treks:

  • Select your top 5 trek preferences—only choose treks you are truly interested in and fully available to attend if offered a spot.
  • For treks with two group options, apply only if you can attend both sets of dates.
  • If accepted into a trek, no changes or switches to other treks or groups are allowed.

3. (OPTIONAL)  Apply for Financial Assistance

Indicate if you’d like to apply by selecting “yes” in the Financial Assistance section.

  • Students receiving aid from the University and Odyssey Scholars still need to apply.
  • You must reapply for each trek cycle, even if you’ve applied before.
