BFI RESEARCH ASSISTANTSHIPS IN ECONOMICS

About the Program
The Becker Friedman Institute for Economics (BFI) seeks to place undergraduate or Master's level students studying economics in substantive research assistantships with UChicago economists. For undergraduate students, third and fourth year students are encouraged to apply. Priorities will be given to applicants with stronger training in data management, programming, and economics.

Research assistantships are available for the academic year (part-time commitment, up to 300 hours), or for the summer (full-time commitment, up to 400 hours). BFI will support selected candidates with a stipend of $3,750 for the academic year and $5,000 for the summer.

We are currently accepting applications for the summer of 2018 and for the 2018-2019 academic year.

To Apply
Submit a letter of intent describing your interest in obtaining research experience guided by a University of Chicago economist, a resume, copy of your transcript, and contact information for two faculty members who may be contacted as references.

The deadline to apply for summer internships is April 1. Applications will continue to be reviewed for the academic year through the summer, but will not be considered for the summer after April 1.
