About El Faro and El Faro English
El Faro is one of the leading investigative news outlets in Central America, and the first online Central American newspaper. It has won multiple international awards and regularly partners with El País, The New York Times, and other major international newspapers and magazines. El Faro English began publishing a newsletter in December of 2019, and is rapidly expanding English-language coverage of Central America, the Central American diaspora, and regional migration news.
Editorial Intern
We are seeking an intern to help with basic editorial duties and to coordinate with our team of writers, editors, and freelancers between Central America, the United States, and Mexico. This is a remote position.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
The editorial intern will assist with copyediting, social media posts, posting articles to our content management system, and possible translations. The workload will vary from between 5 and 10 hours a week. With occasional breaking news, the intern should be available for some weekend or evening work.
Requirements
Fully bilingual in Spanish and English. Applicants should be generally knowledgeable about U.S. and Central American politics and culture. They should be able to write well and quickly, be efficient communicators, and be competent in social media. Translation skills are a plus.
