Editorial Intern at Urban Design Forum - Micro Metcalf Opportunity

The Urban Design Forum mobilizes civic leaders to confront the defining issues facing New York City’s built environment. We are an independent membership organization that empowers professionals of diverse backgrounds, industries, and perspectives to shape a better future for all New Yorkers. We investigate complex challenges in the built environment, study alternative approaches from cities around the world, and advance progressive strategies to build a more dynamic and democratic city. 

Job Duties and Responsibilities 
The Forum seeks an intern to support work on editorial content focused on the climate change and the built environment. The intern will primarily contribute to two projects, along with other assignments on an ad-hoc basis:
1)    The Turning the Heat edited volume will highlight heat resiliency strategies for New York City’s built environment through essays and interviews. The intern will support interview transcription, copyediting, factchecking, identifying visual assets, and other book production tasks.
2)    The Forum is developing a series of interviews on a Green New Deal in the built environment, to be published online. The intern will assist with background research, developing interview questions, transcription, and editing.
The ideal candidate is highly organized with excellent writing and grammar skills. We welcome candidates who are hardworking, dedicated, willing to learn, and interested in issues of equity in the built environment.
