Project Description
This project explores how representation and messages about gender and race in children's books may influence student’s education outcomes over time. Professor Adukia is seeking a research assistant to help apply text analysis tools such as contextual word vectors or sentiment analysis to identify gender- and race-based messages in children's content.

Required Skills
  • Strong Python skills
  • Experience with Python NLP packages such as NLTK, spaCy, Gensim, or TextBlob
  • Knowledge of text analysis/NLP tools such as contextual word vectors, sentiment analysis, or entity recognition
  • Experience with one or more visualization software tools such as Matplotlib, R plotting software, Tableau
  • Preferably familiar with version control software such as Github
