Alumni Board Externship Program - Spring 2017 Cycle

Career Advancement is excited to once again offer the Alumni Board Externship Program during the spring break this year. The externship program is a wonderful opportunity to:
  • Explore your interest in an industry you don't know much about
  • Learn more about the industry you have always been interested in
  • Engage with UChicago alumni and other professionals in the field of your choice
  • Jumpstart your networking for potential internship or hiring placements
Past externship hosts have included: NBC, Citigroup Global Markets, Booz Allen Hamilton, the U.S. Department of Interior, Massachusetts General Hospital, Ecolab, Inc., 3Q Digital, and more!

Financial assistance will not be offered for the Externship Program. All costs related to the externship must be covered by the student, including but not limited to housing, transportation, and meals. If this poses a financial burden, we recommend indicating your home city as a location preference. If you live on-campus and would like to remain in Chicago over the break, please contact College Housing.

  • Any experience you may have with your preferred industry

You will be informed on January 27, 2017 if you have received an externship placement or not. If offered a placement, you will also be informed of the geographic location (city or town) that your externship will take place in. You have until 5 pm on Monday, January 30 to accept or decline the offer by signing and returning your Student Responsibility and Agreement Form. You will learn about your placement and the contact information of your host upon returning this form. We will make every effort to honor your first industry preference, but please keep in mind that we have a limited number of hosts in each industry. Once you have signed the form and received the contact information of your host, your externship will be considered binding and you may not cancel with your host unless there is an extenuating circumstance, to be reviewed by the Externship Coordinator.
