2022 Neuroscience Research Metcalf
Internship Handshake Job Description
A limited number of Neuroscience Research Internships are available for the summer of 2022. This opportunity is designed to allow second year and third year students majoring in Neuroscience the opportunity to try out research in a neuroscience laboratory. Only through directly experiencing the joys and tribulations of the research process can students discover their own affinity for and interest in laboratory work.
Students must work with a UChicago faculty member (Principal Investigator or PI) to develop a project that is both important and feasible within the confines of this 10-week program. Once accepted, student interns are expected to work full-time in a Neuroscience laboratory on campus, to complete their proposed project. Interns must also participate in faculty-led weekly meetings. All students will be expected to present their work at the end of the quarter.
The 10-week program will begin on Monday, June 13th, 2022, and will conclude on Saturday, August 20th, 2022. Students may not register for any courses during this 10-week summer internship as the stipend is regarded as full-time research. Students will receive a $5,000 stipend.

- Name of faculty recommender – The student is responsible for emailing us the name of the faculty member who will recommend the student for the internship to neuromajor@uchicago.edu. The administration will reach out to the faculty recommender to request information.
