Description: The University of Chicago Presents (UChicago Presents) seeks an individual interested in being a vital and important part of a respected organization dedicated to the presentation of classical, jazz, world, and contemporary music. Provides exposure to the world’s best musicians and involvement with audience development.

Concert Duties: The House Manager coordinates the front of house for University of Chicago Presents events. Concert responsibilities include instructing and overseeing volunteer ushers (UChicago students and through The Saints organization), communicating with and assisting patrons, coordinating the start of the concert and intermission, and assisting with set up and clean up before and after the concerts.

Qualifications: Good attention to detail; responsible; experience or comfort with customer service; interest in classical music and/or arts and cultural events is highly encouraged. Previous experience managing front of house is a plus. Applicant must possess excellent interpersonal skills to address patron issues and communicate with staff, ability to supervise effectively and ability to handle fast-paced environment with many interruptions. Work-study status a plus. Graduate students are encouraged to apply.

Notes: This position is for the 2022/23 school year. Schedule will be shared with another house manager; concert dates to be mutually agreed. Events typically take place on Friday evenings and Sunday afternoons, with some exceptions.

Hour Range: Generally 4 hours per concert

Pay Range: $17 per hour
