Usher (as-needed basis) at UChicago Presents

Job Title: Usher (as-needed basis)

Description: The University of Chicago Presents (UChicago Presents) seeks students interested in being vital and important parts of a respected organization dedicated to the presentation of classical, jazz, world, and contemporary music. Provides exposure to the world’s best musicians and involvement with audience development.

Concert Duties: The Usher assists the House Manager with front of house concert duties for University of Chicago Presents events. Concert responsibilities include communicating with and assisting patrons, scanning tickets, distributing program books, and assisting with set up and clean up before and after the concerts.

Qualifications: Good attention to detail; responsible; experience or comfort with customer service; interest in classical music and/or arts and cultural events is highly encouraged. Applicants must possess excellent interpersonal skills to address patron issues and communicate with staff, and ability to handle fast-paced environment with many interruptions. Work-study status a plus.

Notes: This position is for the 2022/23 school year and will be on an as-needed basis. Short notice of schedules may be necessary in some instances. Events typically take place on Friday evenings and Sunday afternoons, with some exceptions.

Hour Range: Generally 3 hours per concert

Pay Range: $17 per hour
