Language Requirement: The ability to read and write in English and at least one other MENA-regional language is essential (i.e. Arabic, Hebrew, Persian, Kurdish).

The Middle East and North Africa (“MENA”) Division of Human Rights Watch (“HRW”) is currently seeking a student intern in the New York or Washington, DC office for summer 2023. The selected candidate will work closely with the Middle East and North Africa division associates and researchers.

The successful candidate’s workload may include various short and long-term research assignments focusing on a range of human rights and humanitarian law abuses across the MENA region. Through assisting with research projects and the one-on-one interactions with our researchers, interns will gain a strong understanding of the work of the MENA Division.
