Public Relations/Communications Intern

OVERVIEW: 
A Future Union is a mission-driven startup that is focused on articulating a new vision for the future. We are intent to promoting equality and sustainability of the natural world, working to realize a bi-partisan or post-partisan, nonpolitical approach that preserves the best of the world and prepares for changes to improve for the next generation. We do this through an integrated framework approach through our mission-driven process. We are looking for big thinking, mission-focused, extraordinary individuals with a background in PR/communications and marketing to join our team.
 
Are you a current undergraduate or early-graduate student, with at least one-year of work or internship experience and in the communications/PR, journalism or media area, who is passionate about fixing the world? What you can expect:
  •  Research and connect with industry leaders
  • Conduct industry analysis and draft concurrent memos
  • Conduct primary research on sectors and companies, as well as assist in calls and pitching, as appropriate

  • You will play an integral role in leading and executing tasks that can range from business strategy, campaign development, social media ideation, focus-group interactions, ad marketing all while endeavoring to get media placement on behalf of our projects and amplify voices to create a more equal world
  • Access and contact with personally identifiable information protected by any Confidentiality or Privacy Standards or Company Policies, which will demand treatment with the utmost sensitivity

What we expect:
  • Seeking interns that can work a minimum of 7 hours a week, up to a maximum of 25 hours, given the hands-on nature of the work and preparation of content
  • Current undergraduate, or masters degree candidate, in Digital/Brand Marketing, Communication/Journalism, or other related disciplines
  • Attention to detail, strong writing and verbal communication skills
  • Prior work or internship experience in communication, journalism or public relations, product development, design (graphic, website, or process) experience preferred
  • Student organization and/or other leadership experience preferred
  • Previous problem solving experience with tangible results and GPA of 3.0 and above preferred
  • Develop social media calendars and expect outreach to media outlets and channels
  • Research new processes and compile data that instructs each iterative campaign strategy
  • Master process flows for data and marketing
  • Execute cause-related strategic and operational projects, including discrete research projects
  • Develop detailed project scopes that account for operational impact
  • Self-starter able to work both autonomously with more limited oversight as well as direct instruction and training; a track record of learning from mistakes and adapting is a plus
  • Willing to work and think outside the box, sometimes with structured oversight and other times with less involvement. Understand that role will be adjusted based on sufficient demonstration of ability and greater opportunities will be extended upon display requisite judgment

We currently offer internships on a rolling basis, however the standard is on a quarter or semester basis:
  • Summer: May - August (though off-cycle is possible)
  • Fall: September - December
  • Spring: January - May
  • Note: This is an unpaid internship, school credit may be received depending on your program and institution.
  • Candidates applying who are not currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program are welcome to apply and will be considered on a case-by-case basis
