Education and Programs Intern - Odyssey Summer Metcalf

This internship is a paid opportunity for all current Odyssey Scholars.

Odyssey Fellowship Award Amount: up to $5,000
Internship Time Commitment: Summer Quarter ( 10 weeks; 320 hours total)

Education and Programs Intern
The individual in this position will assist with the coordination and implementation of onsite and outreach events and programs for families, teens, and educators; and other duties as assigned.

Duties and Responsibilities
• Assist with providing visitors with a consistent and stellar guest experience, including assisting with the facilitation of programs and events
• Conduct museum tours and presentations
• Assist with creating and managing educational programs
• Assist with providing a safe and welcoming space for visitors
           *Sometimes capture daily attendance and monitoring capacity
• Serve as an alternate point of contact for the education department
• Lead educational programs for general museum visitors
• Assist with coordination of program logistics and implementation of onsite and outreach events, including family programs, and teen workshops
• Work closely with the Education team to assist with the coordination and successful implementation of programs, including researching, preparing materials, setting up learning spaces, and facilitating programming
• Other duties as needed

Qualifications

• A passion for African American Studies, Africana Studies, or a related field of study, preferred
• Must be well-organized, self-motivated, and flexible in an ever-changing environment
• Outstanding communication and customer service skills required
• Professional demeanor and ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders required

 Special Requirements
• Should be able to work flexible times, including weekends and holidays
• The position requires frequent standing and walking and some lifting
