Fellowship Award Amount: $4,000 - 5,000
Internship Time Commitment: 30-40 hours per week for 10 weeks, full time Summer 2023

METCALF FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM: SUMMER 2023:
The WTTW Metcalf Internship program is a full-time, paid, competitive summer internship that offers students the opportunity to assist in pre-production and early stages of production for one or more public television and digital programs and series.

Description
WTTW, Chicago’s public television station, is seeking a summer Metcalf intern primarily to research content to be included in one or more public television and digital programs and series. Additionally, depending on our summer production schedule, the student may have the opportunity to assist in writing and field production. There may be opportunities to participate in other projects as needed.

GENERAL INFORMATION:
  • Interns are expected to work 5 days/40 hours per week.
  • Interns should be able to travel to WTTW studios (5400 N. St. Louis Ave.) for the duration of the fellowship.
  •  Interns should stay for the length of the 10-week summer quarter.

Key Responsibilities:
  • - Research program and series ideas
  • - Provide research assistance for episode outlines
  • - Research potential interviewees
  • - If program(s) begin production, assist in the field or studio as needed (note: WTTW is a union shop so interns do not perform any hands-on work with technical equipment such as camera, lights and sound)
  • - Perform other relevant duties as assigned

  • - Excellent research and communication skills
  • - Ability to multi-task and work independently
  • - Demonstrated interest in history and research
