Job Duties and Responsibilities
The overarching question is "how to do econometrics for reference-dependent preferences and other asymmetric models?". For the 10 weeks, the project would have three goals. First, do a thorough literature review to collect and catalogue economic models which display asymmetry --or, technically speaking, hysteresis-- in the demand function/elasticities. The prime example is reference-dependent utility. Second, once these economic models are collected, posit reduced form model(s) that encompass as many as possible of the economic models. Finally, pose and get started on --though I do not presume to complete-- the econometric question of how to estimate such reduced form models.
