Research Assistant with Lisa Bernstein

Title: Research assistant 

Hours and duration: 37.5 hours per week for at least 10 weeks in Summer 2024

General summary: 

The research assistant will work a minimum of 10 weeks and supporting Lisa Bernstein, Wilson-Dickinson Professor of Law, by completing research tasks associated with the Principal Investigator’s (PI) project on the goal to better understand what causes contract disputes to go to litigation.

Principal Duties and responsibilities:

Textual analysis and data collection relating to a research project to better understand what causes contract disputes to go to litigation. More broadly, the study will seek to better understand the extent to which it is the breach of the transactors’ formal or relational contract that drives a transactor’s decision to end commercial relationships and seek recourse in courts.

Measure of success: 

Prompt, thorough, and independent carrying out of responsibilities.

Lisa Bernstein, Wilson-Dickinson Professor of Law

Knowledge, skills, and abilities: 

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Economics or related fields. Knowledge of finance and law is a plus.
  • Coding experience in STATA, R, and/or Python is a plus.
  • Interest in applying for a PhD is a plus.
