Internship Time Commitment: 10 hours/week, June 16 - July 25
In-Person: Chicago, IL (some project work will be done on your own outside of the office)

Illinois Workers in Action (IWA) mission is to empower workers through education, organizing, policy, solidarity, worker power, develop leadership in the workplace, and offer resources to families and the community.
The organization, Illinois Workers in Action, was established to drive workplace change for all employees, regardless of their employment and immigration status. Its mission is to equip every worker with the essential tools needed to thrive in their work environment. Beyond educating and supporting workers, Illinois Workers in Action is dedicated to uniting and empowering the Latinx and Black communities and offering resources for the whole family, not just workers.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
IWA is seeking individuals who are passionate about getting involved in the labor and immigrant rights movements, focusing on community outreach, research, and the creation of social media and fundraising campaigns.
Tasks at work will involve:
- Developing a research project
- Conducting daily surveys
- Making calls to clients
- Compiling data
- Conducting intakes and interviews
- Presenting research findings and creating a report
- Filing complaints
- Attending resource fairs and events
- Collaborate with experienced organizers to plan and execute campaigns
- Conduct presentations to community members (virtual or in-person)
- Engage with workers and community members to provide support, resources, and guidance on their rights
- Utilize social media and other communication tools to amplify our message and reach a wider audience
- Other relevant duties as assigned
Requirements
- Strong commitment to social justice and labor rights
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Willingness to learn and take on new challenges
- Strong writing skills
- Strong research skills, can be quantitative or qualitative
- Ability to take initiative
- Excellent time management skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Spanish speaking is required.
